40th Annual North Jersey Auto Show: May 2018
at Bergen Community College in Paramus, NJ
The 2018 North Jersey Auto Show, held by the Restored Rusty Relics car club, saw hundreds of show cars despite morning rain and afternoon thunder. Eighty vendors sold car parts, clothing, collectibles, memorabilia, breakfast, and lunch; hundreds of spectators came to see well over a hundred cars (down from the usual roughly-400, due to predictions of dire weather).
Rusty Relics volunteers rushed pre-registered cars through, took registrations from day-of-show cars, and directed traffic. This was the first year for our acclaimed “$5 per person or $10 per carload” spectator policy — in past years, it was $5 per person, with no discounts for carloads of people.
Gene Yetter was on hand to capture these photos (and others at his web site).
The first 350 cars got dash plaques featuring a 1974 Plymouth Valiant. There were also trivia contests with prizes, and a DJ playing music. There were many more trophies for the class winners — all but two special awards came in a classic gas pump motif.
Vendors did a good business with spectators and show car owners alike. This year, four companies were show sponsors:
Teterboro Auto Mall • Doyle’s Auto and 4x4 • the Classic Car Hotel (indoor storage) • and LocoMotion PowerSports
